18+FinaCom is a private dispute body, not a state regulator

The short answer

Expert Option names The Financial Commission on its regulation page and describes it, in its own words, as an independent dispute resolution and self-regulatory organisation. That is an industry arbitration body with a compensation fund of up to €20,000 per complaint — not a state financial regulator, and it issues no licences. Two further claims exist in the site's build strings, «VFSC Regulation» and «FMRRC Regulation», though neither is rendered on the live pages today, and Google Play describes the developer as «a licensed financial dealer». The Retail Client Agreement itself names no licence and no supervisory authority, and sends every dispute to the courts of St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Here is what each claim covers and where a complaint really goes.

Chapter 1FinaCom

The Financial Commission: what it is and what it is not

One organisation named, three promises made about it.

The regulation page at expertoption.com/company/regulation/ names a single body. It calls The Financial Commission an «independent dispute resolution and self-regulatory organization» and says ExpertOption joined it «as a registered Member». The register confirms that part: the profile reads Active, registered on 07.02.2022, with a fund of €20,000 per complaint, read on 29.08.2026.

The same page adds two promises. Clients «benefit from the insurance policy of The Compensation Fund», up to €20,000 per client, should a member refuse to follow a FinaCom judgment. And the platform «has undergone an audit by VerifyMyTrade», based on 5,000 order executions.

Read literally, that is industry arbitration, not supervision, and FinaCom issues no licences. The fund pays when a member ignores a ruling, not when a trade loses. The audit measured how orders were filled, not whether client money is held safely. Is Expert Option safe? The question starts here; the company file sits in the full Expert Option breakdown.

Chapter 2Site strings

VFSC and FMRRC: two claims from the site's own strings

Three wordings, one contract that names none.

Is Expert Option safe or not? Part of the answer sits in the site's own files: the text files of expertoption.com, captured on 29.08.2026, hold «Our company is authorised and regulated by VFSC government financial commission», «Our activity is approved and supervised by FMRRC organization» and a badge reading «Regulated by Financial Market Relations Regulation Center».

On the rendered pages that day none of these blocks appeared: the «Trusted» section showed only the 2017 award and the offer figures. The strings exist in the build, the storefront does not show them, and the agreement names neither body. We draw no conclusion about why. The register lookups are repeated in the step-by-step check of the brand's public records.

Chapter 3Complaint route

Where a complaint actually goes

Two documents, two clocks, one ceiling on what can be claimed.

The brand's dispute procedure has three steps. A complaint goes to the company by email within 30 calendar days of the dispute. The company reviews it within 5 business days, plus 2 more if it asks for details. If that fails, the client appeals to The Financial Commission, which accepts appeals within 45 days of the disputed situation and only after a direct attempt with the company.

The agreement runs a parallel track. Clause 5.1 puts it under the law of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and clause 5.3 sends a dispute not settled amicably within 30 calendar days to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of its courts. Clause 3.1 caps any complaint at the total of the client's deposits, so lost profit cannot be claimed. The two clocks overlap: a letter sent on the last allowed day leaves little time before the 45-day FinaCom limit. The calculator below lays the dates out from any starting day.

Chapter 4State oversight

What a state regulator would add

Five safeguards a licence usually brings.

  1. Segregated client moneypublic reportsNo client money account checked by an authority is described.
  2. Capital requirementsset by lawNo named authority sets a minimum capital for EOLabs LLC.
  3. Supervisory reportingto a regulatorWith no regulator named, nobody receives such reports.
  4. State compensationfor a failed firmOnly the FinaCom fund, up to €20,000, on a refused ruling.
  5. Public sanctions registerorders and finesThe FinaCom profile lists status, date and fund, no sanctions.

None of the five appears in the agreement, the Payment Policy or the footer. EOLabs LLC holds a St Vincent company number, which is not a licence; the registration is laid out in our file on the company behind the platform.

For comparison, in the European Union retail binary options were prohibited by an ESMA decision of 27.03.2018 under Article 40 of MiFIR, and every EEA country sits on the company's own list of 48 excluded countries in clause 2.3. India is not on that list; see what the missing licence means for residents of India.

Chapter 5FAQ

FAQ

Is Expert Option regulated?

Not by a state financial regulator. Its Retail Client Agreement names no licence and no supervisory authority, and its own regulation page names only The Financial Commission, which it describes as an independent dispute resolution and self-regulatory organisation.

What does the €20,000 compensation fund actually cover?

According to the company's regulation page, the fund covers a client if a member refuses to comply with a judgment of The Financial Commission. It is not deposit insurance and it does not compensate trading losses or a platform failure.

What is VerifyMyTrade and what did it check?

VerifyMyTrade is a partner service of The Financial Commission. The company states its platform passed an execution quality audit based on a sample of 5,000 order executions. That is an assessment of order execution, not of the company's finances, client fund segregation or solvency.

Is Expert Option safe to use?

Safety here is a matter of documented facts, not opinion. The company is real and its complaint route is documented, but there is no state supervision, no compensation scheme beyond the €20,000 industry fund, clause 3.1 caps any claim at the total of your deposits, and clause 4.3 lets the company deduct up to 20% of a withdrawal.

Verdict

The word «regulated» and what stands behind it

Checks out

FinaCom membership is real: Active since 07.02.2022. The complaint route is written down.

The company's word

«Regulated», «VFSC», «FMRRC» and «a licensed financial dealer». The documents confirm no state supervision of trading behind any of them.

Read before funding

Claims stop at your deposits (cl. 3.1), disputes end in St Vincent courts (cl. 5.3), and the fund pays only on a refused ruling.

Risk note

18+. Trading can lose you the entire amount you deposit. No state compensation scheme covers these accounts: the only fund named is FinaCom's, up to €20,000 per complaint, and only when a member refuses a ruling. Read the trading risk notice before you fund an account.
